PROJECT UPDATE: 09/07/2011
Many of you know the great progress enjoyed at the beginning of 2011 with issue 1 being completed in April, and the time line looking good for all 4 issues to be completed by the end of 2011. All of us on The Midnight Raider Team greatly appreciate your support and encouragement, and wanted to give you a status of the account as we move into the fall of 2011.
After the sneak preview of the project at MCBA SpringCON 2011 we quickly got to work on finishing the script for issue 2. It was in this that we found our timeline changing. The further into the story we got, the more we saw opportunities for growth, for tightening up certain areas of the story, and expanding others. Having now completed the script for issue 3, and being knee deep into issue 4 we found as we worked closer to the climax to the story that we were going to need to go back and do some revisions to earlier moments in the story. Some of which are in issue 1.
The down side to this reality is that issue 2 will not be available for its special sneak preview until SpringCON 2012, which was originally supposed to be at next month’s MCBA FallCON.
On the plus side taking this step to make revisions and in some cases complete changes to our original plan has resulted in a higher quality project, a stronger more engaging story and just a better property for everyone to enjoy overall.
Also during this time we’ve been addressing the logistical side of producing a comic book and have been attempting to raise financial support via a fund raising campaign that also gives donators special incentives as “Thank You” gifts for believing in our project. This campaign runs through Oct.16th 2011 and there is still time for you to donate. We also still have fun goodies planned for all our faithful supporters to snatch up at our shows this Fall.
- ICBC I-CON – September 17th in Altoona, IA : We will have promotional posters being handed out, and production copies of issue 1 in ashcan format for those interested. Writer, Artist, & Letterer will all be at the show.
- MCBA FallCON – October 15th in St. Paul, MN & Central Canada Comic Con C4 – October 28-30th in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada: We will have new prints, buttons, and some other special items available. Also The Midnight Raider Artist: Anthony ANMPH Hary will have his art featured in a Swimsuit special through A.N.A. Comics that month. Profits being donated to Breast Cancer Charity.
